Winter Weekend at Camp Calvary was GREAT! We all had a super safe, fun, and cold time. Ours was one of the only weekends this winter without snow. We still had a great time. I’ve put a LOT of pictures on this post, so it may take a few moments to load. Don’t forget to click on “more” to see all the pictures.

Mini Golfing Photos January 21, 2009

We had a great and snowy time playing mini golf on Monday the 19th.  Here are some photos for your enjoyment.

Several in the group had impressive performances on the back nine.  Brandon, Josh, Ben, and Philip showed some nice low number, but Pastor Josh came in the lowest with 38.  Amanda had the best score for the ladies, which she credits to years of her father’s coaching in the back yard.   Some others (who will remain un-named) showed an obvious need to work on their putting skills.  They posted scores over 50!

It’s Here! Get your January Newsletter January 13, 2009

It’s a little late, but the January Newsletter hit the post office Tuesday, January 13.  Maybe I should call it a mid-month newsletter.

Don’t want to wait for the mail to deliver your copy?  That’s fine, just click on the January Link on the right side bar (the green boxes over there), the newsletters now have their own link category.  After you click the link, you’ll have to click on the file name and download the file, then open it, but you all know how to do that.

This month’s topic will be a lot of fun – church attendance.  Ok, so maybe it’s not the hottest topic out there right now, but it is one that needs to be addressed.

Join the Rebelution – Book available for $10 (that’s $6.99 under list!) January 8, 2009

Filed under: For Parents, General — Joshua Marlowe @ 9:09 am

UPDATE -  I have four only three of these books available for your purchase.

This would be a GREAT book to read and discuss with your teen/parents.

Book Review / Recommendation

Do Hard Things is a book by teens for teens.  Alex and Brett Harris did a great job summarizing the status quo of teen life today. They challenge young people to rise to against the cultural norms and live life richly through a God-honoring and future focused teen life.

Here is a public description of the book:

The next generation stands on the brink of a “rebelution.”

With over 14 million hits to their website TheRebelution.com, Alex and Brett Harris are leading the charge in a growing movement of Christian young people who are rebelling against the low expectations of their culture by choosing to “do hard things” for the glory of God.

Written when they were 18 years old, Do Hard Things is the Harris twins’ revolutionary message in its purest and most compelling form, giving readers a tangible glimpse of what is possible for teens who actively resist cultural lies that limit their potential.

Combating the idea of adolescence as a vacation from responsibility, the authors weave together biblical insights, history, and modern examples to redefine the teen years as the launching pad of life and map a clear trajectory for long-term fulfillment and eternal impact.

Written by teens for teens, Do Hard Things is packed with humorous personal anecdotes, practical examples, and stories of real-life rebelutionaries in action. This rallying cry from the heart of revolution already in progress challenges the next generation to lay claim to a brighter future, starting today.

Parents:  I highly recommend you have your teen read this book.  I have purchased five copies and will make them available to you at my cost.  If you are interested in purchasing this book, please let me know.
